What is the role?

The Middle & Back Office (M&BO) Support team is a great place for a trainee to join as you will gain hands on experience of the Company. As a trainee you will receive training and guidance to understand and support the flow of transactions within the Middle & Back Office. You will also receive guidance to understand and support the front to back office trade lifecycle which incorporates both London and Frankfurt commercial activities and will provide you with the ideal start to your career in Investment Banking Technology.

You will provide technical support to the Middle & Back Office production environment covering high profile business areas whilst also responding to technical and business issues. Your responsibilities will include technical fault analysis and coordination of issues through to resolution. You will also be involved in the production of technical support documentation together with business continuity and disaster recovery procedures. Opportunities to contribute towards the identification of tactical and strategic solutions to system inefficiencies will also be regularly available.

How will
it suit me?
You will be part of a specialised and well-respected team that carries a high level of responsibility. It will bring you in contact with many people across the firm, up to and including the senior management team, and will suit a technical person who also has essential “people skills”. Familiarity with the Japanese language would be a plus but is not essential. You will need to be curious, and client-focused, with a commitment to developing creative solutions. A genuine interest in finance with the desire to work closely with the business is desired. Guidance and support from industry experts in your field will be available, and this is a great opportunity to learn in a friendly working environment in the heart of the City of London.
What do you expect from me? It is expected that you will have a basic understanding of SQL and Linux with advanced skills in Microsoft Office. An intermediate understanding of VBA programming would also be useful. We are looking for candidates who are self-confident, someone who works well in a team and who is committed to providing a high level of support. It is expected that you will be a creative thinker who can demonstrate excellent problem solving skills and the ability to produce technical documentation that is easily understood by non-technical people.
And what qualifications do I need? We are happy to consider a minimum 2:1 in a relevant degree with a strong computer science bias. If you are successful, we will support you to study for a relevant professional qualification.
